Kimem Meter Taxi Data & Account Deletion
You can delete your Kimem Meter Taxi account and the personal information on it at any time. Nothing is deleted the moment you ask. Your account is closed 30 days later, so you have a month to change your mind. This applies to both apps, Kimem for riders and Kimem Driver for drivers.
Option 1: Delete in the app (fastest)
If you still have the app installed:
- Riders: open Kimem, then Settings. Drivers: open Kimem Driver, then Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Type DELETE_MY_ACCOUNT to confirm, then tap Yes, delete.
You cannot delete your account while you are on a ride. Finish the ride first.
To stop a deletion you already asked for, go back to the same screen before the 30 days are up and tap Keep my account. If you sign in during those 30 days, the app also asks whether you want to keep the account.
Drivers: a cash balance you are owed does not come back after deletion, and commission you owe is not cleared by deleting the account. Settle both with the operator first. The app shows both amounts before you confirm.
Option 2: Delete without the app
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email kimemtaxi@gmail.com with the phone number you registered with. We confirm the request by calling that number and close the account after the call. Because you confirm on the phone, there is no 30 day wait on this route.
You can also call the operator at +251 908 90 22 90.
What is removed and what is kept
Removed for everyone: your name, phone number, photo, email address, and your sign-in. Once the 30 days are up you can no longer log in.
Removed for drivers as well: your driving licence number and your vehicle plate number.
Kept: past rides and payment records, with your name and phone number taken off them. For drivers this includes earnings and commission records, and the make and model of the vehicle without its plate, because the operator may be asked which car served a ride long after the driver has left.
After deletion you can register again with the same phone number. The new account starts empty; the old account and its history do not come back.
Note on data retention: ride and payment records are kept as financial records after your name and contact details are removed from them. We are required to hold them for legal and accounting purposes, and they can no longer be traced back to you from within the app.
